Finley will be the host of the Riverina Ladies Golf Championship next month.
One-hundred golfers from throughout the Riverina — including Griffith, Wagga Wagga and Albury — will travel to the Southern Riverina for the tournament.
Several motels in Finley, Tocumwal and Berrigan are already fully booked for the three day tournament, which Finley Ladies Golf Committee president Anne Harding said provides an important financial boost for the towns and businesses.
She said the event is a great opportunity to show off Finley.
‘‘We are very excited. This event is good for the club and town.’’
The annual event is hosted by a different Riverina Ladies Golf Association member town each year. Last year the event was held in Narrandera.
The championship consists of open handicap and bronze handicap events.
This year will mark the 21st anniversary of the bronze handicap tournament.
‘‘The event is also an opportunity to meet new people and catch up with acquaintances from years past,’’ Harding said.
‘‘It’s a very enjoyable event, but also serious.
‘‘All the ladies are good to talk to so it also makes it a great social occasion.’’
The three day event begins Monday, September 11.
