NSW Farmers Coleambally Branch proudly hosted almost 80 people at a comedy night late last month.
Renowned speaker Neville Brady travelled from Swan Hill to present on the night, and with the underlying theme being mental health and how to look after yourself and those around you, it was amazing to see the crowd in stitches given the seriousness of the topic.
Predominantly farmers attended, and some travelled from as far as Jerilderie, Leeton and Griffith for the night.
The event — ‘Why You Won’t Die Laughing’ — came about following the branch voting in February to hold an evening that touched on health and stress, and it didn’t disappoint.
‘‘Neville has a way with words — he is able to make emotional, serious subjects hilarious,’’ NSW Farmers South West regional services manager Simone Norrie said.
Miss Norrie said the event was testament to the Coleambally Branch, especially chair John Ward and secretary/treasurer Kim Cartledge.
“The members of Coly Branch identified this was a topic they felt was important to their community and they made it happen,’’ Miss Norrie said.
