About 100 men listen to Christian speaker

July 27, 2017

Lyle Shelton, managing director of Australian Christian Lobby movement and 2016 World Magazine’s ‘Daniel of the Year Award’ recipient, was the guest speaker at the Finley Regional Christian Men’s Fellowship annual dinner on Monday evening.

The dinner was attended by more than 100 men from the surrounding district, and reports indicate that most found the talk given by the speaker to be very enlightening.

A journalist by profession, Mr Shelton began his career working for regional farming newspapers in Queensland.

After six years in journalism, he returned to his home town of Toowoomba to serve as youth pastor at Toowoomba City Church.

In 2000 he was elected to the Toowoomba City Council and in 2006 unsuccessfully contested the Queensland state election as a candidate for the National Party.

After a short stint as a political advisor to Queensland Senators Ron Boswell and Barnaby Joyce, Mr Shelton was appointed chief of staff of Australian Christian Lobby before moving on to become managing director.

Since then, he has travelled extensively in his role as motivational speaker and recently returned from Budapest in Hungary where he was the guest of the government.

Mr Shelton spoke of the concern of the Australian Christian Lobby movement should changes be made to the Marriage Act and the effect it would have on young children who may be questioning their sexuality.

He said at the moment an average of two children a month are given Family Court permission to begin irreversible sex change treatment.

Those attending the evening in Finley were certainly given much to go home and consider.
