Op. targets licensed premises

July 26, 2017

Deniliquin Local Area Command police conducted more than 500 roadside breath tests and patrolled more than 60 licensed premises as part of Operation Barb over the weekend.

Aimed at targeting and reducing incidents of crime with a direct link to alcohol and anti-social behaviour, the operation was conducted from Friday to Sunday.

During the course of the operation five people were arrested, two of whom were refused bail.

Deniliquin Police Inspector Jy Brown said similar operations would continue to be held on a regular basis.

‘‘Overall, police were pleased with the behaviour of patrons across the weekend,’’ he said.
