Over 300 youngsters from the Cobram Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) will converge on the fields at the Finley Showground and Sporting Complex this Saturday for the final time this season.
Players and their families will also be travelling from Tocumwal, Yarrawonga, Cobram, Oaklands, Berrigan, Jerilderie and Strathmerton for the day’s play.
CJSA vice-president Mick Wane said it’s a fantastic day to promote the town.
‘‘When soccer comes to Finley it is seen by many as a great opportunity to showcase our great town,’’ he said.
‘‘With this in mind there will be many locals making their contribution to ensure that it is the best experience possible.’’
Some families will be baking cakes and donating lollies for the stall, Finley Little Athletics will run the barbecue, Julie Maconachie from the Teapot Cafe will be operating her mobile coffee business Finley Coffee Beans, and Finley Bakery owner Andrew Richardson has generously donated a ‘Finley Bakery Award’ for each of the 30 teams.
‘‘With the Finley footy and netball teams also playing at home, Finley will be the place to be to get your sporting fix,’’ Wane said.
‘‘It will be great to see many locals on the sidelines to welcome the many expected visitors.’’
The day will start at 9am with the first game of soccer kicking off at 9.30am.
