Lola’s story coming to Savernake

July 19, 2017

‘The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez’ is coming to Savernake.

From Patrick White Playwright Award winner Jackie Smith and world famous cabaret stars Finucane & Smith comes the story of the wildest showgirl of the nineteenth century, Lola Montez.

The show will be performed at the Savernake School of Arts Hall, Riverina Hwy, on Wednesday, August 9 from 7pm.

Lola Montez toured Australia and its goldfields in 1855, and her ‘Spider Dance’ was ‘‘the most libertinish and indelicate performance that could be given on the public stage’’, according to the Sydney Morning Herald at the time.

Lola’s scandal is legend, inspiring this brand new drama decked in couture black lace, a thousand true lies, jaw-dropping dance, multi-award winning storytelling, sultry song and a death scene or three.

The live performance stars triple Best Actress winner — and direct descendant of Lola herself — Miss Caroline Lee and Parisian dancer Holly Durant.

It is directed by the international Queen of Provocative Variety Moira Finucane and created in partnership with Her Majesty’s Ballarat.
