Congratulations to George Batten on winning the Men’s Champion of Champions at the Barooga Indoor Bowls recently.

George will play in the Numurkah District Association, with at a date to be arranged. Well done.

A number of milestone birthdays have been celebrated over the last two weeks.

Last weekend, Tammie Thornton celebrated her 40th.

Tammie was thrown a surprise party at the Federal Hotel, and a great evening was had by all who attended.

Julian Tubbs recently turned 80, and family and friends gathered at the sports ground for a luncheon.

People travelled far and wide to be with Julian on this special occasion.

Last Saturday, Alan Barnes celebrated his 50th at the Royal. A great evening was had by all who attended.

The bowls club will be having a social day with the Rand Bowls Club on Sunday, August 20.

A bus is being organised, and the first 30 people to write their names on the list will have a seat.

St Columba’s will be running its very popular ‘Play to Learn’ program for all students starting kindergarten in 2018.

All children in the Berrigan and surrounding areas are welcome to attend.

The program will be held every Wednesday during terms three and four, beginning Wednesday, July 26 from 10.30am to 2pm.

The Berrigan Football Club will be holding a goods and services auction after the Deni Rovers game on July 22.

A meal will be served and the community is welcome to come along to the evening and bid on goods or services.

Reverend Harry Roberts, the Methodist Minister in Berrigan from 1949 to 1950, passed away in June. He was 97.

Also passing away in June was Mrs Bessie Wakem — the wife of Reverend Les Wakem, a minister in Berrigan in the 1990s, She was living at Seam, NSW.
