Demons lose ‘A’ thriller

Jerilderie put up a gallant effort in cold conditions on Saturday, finishing only one goal behind Picola United in a thriller in A grade.

The Demons, playing at home, worked really well together against the fifth-placed Blues.

Scores, Picola 43 to Jerilderie 42.

Jerilderie awards: Wunnamurra Award - Elouise Barlow, SD Landscaping - Kendall Purcell, Colony Inn - Kiara Keating, Jerilderie Sports Club - Tanya Rorato.

B grade: Fabulous game by Jerilderie. The Demons contested the rain and their opponents, putting in 100 per cent.

Unfortunately the Dees lost 54-43.

Thank you to Annalise Barlow who assisted Issy in the goal ring.

Julia and Brooke did a magnificent job rebounding and defending.

Heidi and Sara were sensational in the mid-court, working the ball down the court to convert goals.

C grade: A strong game from C grade taking on top of the table Picola.

The Dees took a bit to warm up in the cold conditions and were down by four going into half time.

A strong third quarter saw the Demons go into the fourth term 10 goals up.

Mid-court was the big improver with the ball moving freely into Eden and Annalise in the goal circle.

Tanya and Sally were strong in defence and forced many turnovers.

Under 17s: The Demons worked hard, having a strong win against second on the ladder Picola, 40-19. Strong work down the court and a great team effort.

Under 13s: A tough game in the wet with the Dees struggling to control the ball and pass accurately.

Lucy Simpson was strong in attack, and Alex and Harmony Patu continued to build their partnership in the defence circle.

Scores, Picola 15 def. Jerilderie 7.

Awards: Pine Rise Pumps - Lucy Simpson, Colony Inn - Harmony Patu, Newsagency - Alex Patu and Tamzin Bell.

Under 11s: Showed great sportsmanship by filling in for Picola.
