There were 290 birds showcased at the Deniliquin Poultry Club Show at the Deniliquin Showgrounds on Sunday, June 25.

The annual event saw Swan Hill breeder Sherryl Loy take home the ‘Champion Bird’ top prize with her old English game.

Finley’s Nick and Kelvin Fenaughty’s black langshan bantam took home ‘Reserve Bird’.

In the junior section it was a clean sweep for Deniliquin, with locals Beth Laverty and Jessica Bish claiming junior champion bird in show and junior reserve champion bird, respectively.

Judges Ian Simpson from Shepparton and Tongala’s Graeme Spedding were impressed with the quality presented at the show.

‘‘The birds are judged on feather quality, type, presentation and more,’’ Mr Simpson said.

‘‘Overall, there were some great quality birds.

‘‘I’d like to congratulate the Deniliquin Poultry Club for hosting a fantastic show, with such a friendly atmosphere,’’ he said.
