Blighty A down Cutters

In round 11 of the Picola League netball season, all but one of the Blighty Redeyes’ senior netball teams were victorious against the Mathoura Timbercutters on Saturday.

Playing at home Blighty A grade showed their brute strength with an impressive 55 goal win.

Shooter Emily White took out the best on court award for her consistency in the goal circle.

Mid-court player Demi Blake was also awarded for her intercepts, speed and skill on the court.

Final score, Blighty 80 to Mathoura 25

Although the score was close, and even levelled on occasions throughout the B grade match, the Cutters pulled away in the final quarter to end with an 11 goal lead.

Blighty defender Molly Cochrane was named best on court, along with attackers Amy Bunnett and Claire Bull.

Final score, Mathoura 43 to Blighty 32.

Another close match between the Redeyes and Cutters in C grade had spectators on the edge of their seats.

Blighty were able to pull away from Mathoura to post a 16 goal win.

Centre court’s Felicia Russell earned best on court for her persistence and energy throughout the game.

Shooter Steph Barry and defender Alana Coates were also awarded for their efforts.

Final score, Blighty 43 to Mathoura 27.

Blighty’s C reserve side bounced back from last week’s loss with a 21 goal win over Mathoura.

All-rounder Lisa Landy earned the best on court award for her incredible speed and skill in all four quarters of play.

Shooter Rose Sievers, defender Nat Green and all-rounder Georgia Bradford were also awarded for their persistence and consistency.

Final score, Blighty 42 to Mathoura 21.

The Under 17s put up a good fight but were unable to come away with their first win of the year, going down by 10 goals.

Final score, Mathoura 33 to Blighty 23.

In a battle of fourth versus fifth it was Mathoura who stood tall in the U-15s, winning by three goals to stay in front of the Redeyes on the ladder. Final score, Mathoura 22 to Blighty 18.

Blighty’s U-13s continued their unbeaten run with a 10 goal win on Saturday.

Final score, Blighty 26 to Mathoura 16.

The Blighty U-11s enjoyed a spirited ‘Minis Day’ on Saturday. They played a great game against Mathoura, with awards going to Erica Nicholls, Julia Dunn and Ruby Caruso.
