New Blood for Toc.

March 17, 2017

After missing finals for the first time since joining the Picola and District League last year, Tocumwal look set to make a return to the post season with a host of recruits.

The Bloods have been active in the off-season, attracting ex-players to return to their old club.

Headlining the list of returnees is 2009 Tocumwal premiership player and two time Murray League best and fairest Lee Warnett, who makes his return after a five year stint at Tatura.

‘‘We try and keep in close contact with former players and players that have blended well into the club over the years,’’ Tocumwal playing coach Sean Logie said.

‘‘We’ve achieved what we set out to do with recruiting and our list is much stronger.

‘‘We were all disappointed with how we finished up last year so we need to stay competitive and improve on winning those close games.’’

The Bloods will be spoilt for choice in the middle with Cory Parish and Chris Patten returning to the club to join Logie, Ollie Rennie and Stephen Patten in the engine room.

Toc’s leading goalkicker from last year, Dylan Flanagan, will once again be a focal point up forward while South Mildura recruit Sam Boake is also likely to play an important role for the Bloods in front of goal.

‘‘We’ve done the hard work on the track and have a good mix of young and experienced blokes so we’re happy with where we are,’’ Logie said.
